Smoke extraction

Smoke extraction

The purpose of smoke extraction is to extract fumes and gases produced by combustion at the beginning of the fire.
Mechanical smoke evacuation has become essential in all buildings to prevent many casualties, since asphyxia is the primary cause of death when trapped in fire.

Smoke extraction is done either by extraction via exhaust fans or by an air inlet produced by a supply fan.
It limits the spread of fire, promotes public evacuation by keeping exits practicable.
It facilitates the action of the emergency services. Smoke extraction systems must be powered
by a Power Supply Equipment according to EN 12101-10 to ensure their reliability.
